NFL STAR CREDITS SUCCESS TO RUGBY

Leonard Williams of the New York Jets, the American football team based in New York City, was talking with ESPN’s, Jon Gruden. It turns out that Williams didn’t get a chance to play football when he was younger due to his size. As a result, his mother signed him up to play rugby.

Williams talks about how he had a chance to play both sides of the ball, and the physicality of the sport helped develop the skills he would use to play football. Seems to have worked out pretty well for him as he was an All-American star at University of Southern California, was chosen 6th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, and has absolutely reeked havoc on opponents as a defensive linemen for the Jets.
