USA Rugby Women’s College D1/Elite D1 Playoffs Preview – LIFE UNIVERSITY

The Gift-Time Rugby Network will broadcast the USA Rugby Women’s D1/Elite D1 College Round of 16 and Elite 8 Playoffs, being held at Life University on April 22 and 23. This playoff will feature the University of Virginia, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, University of Central Florida, and Life University.

Life University is starting off the Round of 16 facing University of North Carolina at 11 am this Saturday on their home turf. The Running Eagles have a developed and solid program.  N’Keiah Butler said at the start of the season the team made “selfless goals and commitments that eventually helped our communication”. Being a part of one unified team is a pivotal part of what makes Life so good at what they do. She brought up how the team stays “undivided. We made a commitment to be there for each other no matter what, rugby or not.”

N’Keiah mentioned a strength of the squad has been “empathy. Being able to relate and empathize with one another has formed a bond among us which I believe no other team has.  In conjunction, we hold everybody accountable to Life U standards.”

The Life Women haven’t played a college 15s squad since facing Clemson in the fall, Life winning 103-0. Despite also winning a surplus of 7s matches earlier this spring N’Keiah said, “it’s disrespectful to our team and our opponents to take any game lightly… I can tell you we have been preparing physically and mentally. We are ready for any obstacle that we may face. We train for optimal situations but we are also adaptable.”

The winner of this playoff tournament will have a chance to compete for a USA Rugby Women’s D1 national championship on May 5-6, being held at Life University.
