USA Sevens Moving On From Las Vegas

It has been 9 years since the USA Sevens Tournament has been hosted in Las Vegas. In 2020, Las Vegas will be a location of the past, as the USA Sevens Tournament will be moving on to a new home.

The USA Sevens Tournament has been the staple of the USA Rugby event cycle for 15 years. In that time we have seen some great competition and moments, including watching the USA Rugby Men win their first USA Sevens tournament in 2018. With that, it has not been the most loved place for players and coaches to play at. There have been many complaints about the poor artificial turf inside Sam Boyd Stadium, limited hotel options that don’t allow for players and coaches to have an environment to separate from fans and prepare or decompress from game play.

This will not be the first time that the USA Sevens Tournament will have been played outside of Las Vegas. Between 2004 and 2009, the USA Sevens Tournament was played in Los Angeles, CA and San Diego, CA. There is still uncertainty about where the next location will be, but know that this years Las Vegas USA Sevens Tournament, will be the last year that this tradition will be held.

Enjoy it.
