The 2015 Lakefront 7’s tournament, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, came to another successful close this past weekend with teams coming from all across the Midwest to compete for hardware.
A variety of divisions accompanied this years tournament as players competed in a men’s elite, competitive, social, and high school brackets while the women competed in an elite, social, and high school brackets.
The bracket that brought the most talent was the men’s elite division as top tier talent came from all across the Midwest such as 1823, Chicago Lions, and others. The bracket was filled with skillful and quality rugby. Through a day of tough competition, 1823 sealed the championship after defeating the Milwaukee Barbarians, 17-12.

Milwaukee wasn’t done competing for the day. Milwaukee RFC brought two more impressive sides and earned the men’s competitive championship as well as the social championship.
On the women’s end, the Youngbloodz earned an impressive win over the Chicago Lions, 31-24, to win the women’s elite side. The more exciting finish came from the woman’s social bracket as the Winona State Black Katts battled Tits in a thrilling sudden death overtime to take the victory.
The largest summer rugby tournament proved once again to be a phenomenal day filled with top level rugby across the board. With Lakefront 7’s in the books, Gift-Time Rugby looks forward to seeing more 7’s this summer.
