Lindenwood University Women’s Takes on NDC Falcons

Lindenwood Women’s Rugby will host Notre Dame College this Saturday for their last Fall match in home Hunter Stadium at 1:45 CT.  They have remained unbeaten so far this Fall against collegiate competition competing with all star sides, D1 clubs, and WPL teams.

Head Coach Billy Nicholas talked about some goals that were the season. “Throughout the Fall one of our objectives was to get several players playing time and to try people out at at various positions and combinations. Fall for us is about development and we are on track to meet that goal. Our team, especially our rookies are starting to feel a bit more comfortable in our systems of play and their confidence is growing.”

Speaking about this coming weekend against NDC, Nicholas said, “we know NDC has a great team and coaching staff but we will take this week pretty typical and focus on our team and our tweaks that we continue to make each week for our growth. We will have to focus on playing our game and our style when it comes to tough matches.”

Early in October the Lions travelled to play Army and AIC, winning both matches handily.  Later beating Penn State and the Mid-America Women’s All-Stars.  Nicholas commented on the women’s play, “our strengths are that we have people who continually are ready to step up and make a difference contributing to our success.”

“We have a healthy competitive environment here at Lindenwood and we look for each of our players to continue to develop and bring their best to the team. College rugby continues to grow at the women’s collegiate level and we are just happy to be a part of that growth and competition.”

“I think another thing that makes us special as a team is that we are well rounded. When it comes to pointing out specific players it’s difficult because 1 through 23 on the roster each week someone brings something special to that table that contributes to our success for the program.”
