Louisiana Town Hosts First High School Rugby Match

It looks like it’s a big day for the city of Shreveport as they have taken steps to expand their rugby program from club and college, to the youth rugby league. On Saturday, the Shreveport Area Rugby Club will feature it’s first high school game against, the south Louisiana based, Bayou Hurricanes. Included with this match will be exhibition matches that will pit D1A College Rugby, LSU, against DII Deep South Rugby Conference champs, Louisiana Tech, and D1AA Southeastern Rugby Conference West Champs, University of Alabama.

This match will mark the addition of the 10th active high school rugby program in the state of Louisiana. A steady effort that has been made by the Louisiana Rugby Organization to increase the growth of youth rugby around the state of Louisiana.
