West Chester, PA 22 September 2017 – The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) is excited to announce the creation of the NSCRO Women’s 7s All-Star Championships.
The NSCRO Women’s 7s All-Star Championships will be held on January 20 – 21, 2018 at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The event is for Conference Select Sides and players must be participating on teams that are a members of NSCRO. Initially, this will be an eight-team event but could expand to twelve at a later date.
As NSCRO continues to grow, we are looking to provide services that will enhance the experience of more teams and players competing in a small college environment. The goal of the All-Star competition is to provide athletes from teams not traditionally competing in NSCRO’s 15s or 7s national championship pathways the opportunity to participate in a competition higher than that of their local conference play.
“We know that there are exceptional players who are playing on some of our less successful teams, and we want to give those teams and their conferences, the chance to showcase these talented athletes,” said NSCRO Commissioner of Women’s Rugby, Bryn Chivers.
The event will also provide some coaches of NSCRO teams with their first opportunity to coach at a representative level.
The NSCRO/Penn Mutual Women’s 7s Select Side will be competing in the Las Vegas 7s on March 1-3, 2018. We will make the final selections for this team on Wednesday, January 24th so that all players participating in the NSCRO Women’s 7s All-Star Championships will be eligible for selection to the NSCRO/Penn Mutual Women’s 7s Select Side
