On a sunny Saturday in Raceland, LA, the #1 seeded Bayou Hurricanes would host the #4 seeded NOLA Barbarians in the Louisiana State High School League semi-final game to decide who would play for the State Championship. The Hurricane’s would start the scoring early with outside center Zavier Triplett touching it down first, with the conversion blocked.

The score would go unanswered by the Barbarians and second rower TJ Folse would touch it down next with the conversion made by scrumhalf Hunter Breit. Again the score would go unanswered by the visitors and the gates would open up a bit with fullback Brandon Sanders and winger Demery Rener both touching down before the half with Breit converting each try for the home team who would enjoy a 26-0 score margin at the halfway break.

The beginning of the second half, the Hurricanes would receive the ball. An early score by Alvin Delaune, off the pass by Brandon Sanders. The Bayou Hurricanes never let off the gas pedal as Tyler Menefee would get the ball out of the ruck, and run it in for the score. The Hurricanes would continue to dominate the score board with Tries by outside center Shane Wright and inside center Zavier Triplett. Hurricanes would end the game with a final score of 52-0.

The Hurricanes will take on Jesuit – New Orleans, for the high school state championships on April 30th. The NOLA Barbarians will face off against St. Pauls in the Cup Consolation match.
