On September 30th, the Clearwater Beach Rugby 5s Tournament will be kicking off it’s inaugural season in Clearwater, FL. The tournament is part of Florida’s Sunshine State Games hosted by the Florida Sports Foundation and Rugby America North.
The tournament will be held at the Sheraton Sand Key Resorts, and take place over two days. Men and women’s teams are allowed to bring squads of up to 10 players. Each team will field 5 players on the beautiful white sand beach pitch. Then it’s all fun, fast, action from there. All rugby rules still apply. Winners will received Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal at the end.
This event is the launch of RANs beach rugby initiative, which in 2018 will be expanded to include more events throughout North America. RAN have already been contacted by a number of Sports Commissions in Florida, all wishing to host similar events similar to the one in Clearwater.
There is still time for teams to register. Registration fee is only $250 for each team. Register online or mail in by September 29th. This will be the perfect close to the month of September.
