Louisiana Tech vs. University of Louisiana Lafayette
La Tech hopes to get off to the right foot after having an extra week to prepare for ULL. ULL is coming off a win over Tulane and is looking to stay hot and defeat LA Tech. On the La Tech side, be on the lookout for leader Aaron Gootzeit and new comer Will Crawford. Crawford attended the Serevi Residence Camp over the summer in Colorado and I am sure he plans to bring some his new skills to his debut in a La Tech jersey. ULL, who is very team oriented, has proved early that they will be a tough team to play. ULL prides themselves on having no outstanding players but being dominant as a team. After a victory last week, I think ULL will stay hot and beat La Tech 35-14.
University of Southern Mississippi vs Troy University
Both Southern Miss and Troy are coming off tough losses heading into week two. Troy lost a close game to Spring Hill 24-15 while Southern Miss lost to South Alabama 44-22. Troy is very forward oriented, meaning, they rarely spread the ball out the wing. They keep their play close and tight and play a smash mouth style rugby. Southern Miss comes off a tough loss to a skilled and experienced South team. If Southern Miss plans to win this game they need their forward pack to have one heck of a game. They need to tackle low and utilize their back line and space. I think Troy redeems their week one loss and beats Southern Miss 21-7.
Tulane University vs University of South Alabama
South Alabama is coming hot versus Tulane. South is coming off a monster win against Southern Miss and want to extend their record to 2-0. Tulane is looking to pick up their first win after a loss to ULL in week one. It seems as the experienced South Alabama team is starting to gel with each other but they should not over look Tulane. Although Tulane is sitting at 0-1 it’s still early in the season and they are looking for any opportunity to show the conference they have what it takes to play for the championship. This game is going to be close but I think Tulane walks away with the win 10-5.
