Games to Watch This Weekend – Club – February 21, 2014

Baton Rouge (2-3) will be taking on Chattanooga (5-0) this weekend. Chattanooga has been an absolute force this season. They are coming off a 36-10 over Knoxville. They have swept through their schedule and haven’t kept it close. Baton Rouge has their biggest challenge of the season coming up. As they are coming off a close 29-24 loss against Jackson, last week. The common opponent that both team has faced was Knoxville. Baton Rouge lost to Knoxville on October 19th, 33-0. Chattanooga has played Knoxville twice defeating them with a combined score of 84-18. Chattanooga is the overwhelming favorite to win this game.

Where: Gretna Park, New Orleans, LA

Woodland Rugby (0-9) will be traveling to face New Orleans Rugby (6-1-1). Woodlands have not had a good season this year. They have allowed 571 points scored on them this season, including a January 11th home match where New Orleans shut them out 100-0. New Orleans is coming off a huge weekend last week, after sweeping the Austin Blacks 42-12 and Austin Huns 41-25. New Orleans will have the home advantage this week.

Where: Gretna Park, New Orleans, LA

New Orleans will be playing a doubleheader this weekend. They will play Ft. Worth Rugby after they play Woodland. Fort Worth (1-6) has been underwhelming this season. Fort Worth lost to HARC 42-17 last time the played. New Orleans will also be the overwhelming favorites for this game.

Where: A.C. Steere Park, Shreveport, LA

Bay Area (0-5) will be traveling to face Shreveport (0-3-1). Shreveport played their best game last week against Alamo City tying 24-24. They are hoping to use that momentum to acquire their first win of the season. Bay Area has struggled as well this season. The travel from Galveston to Shreveport will not help their numbers. Bay Area has had trouble keeping teams out of the Try Zone. Shreveport will be the favorite to win this game.

Hopkinsville vs Birmingham

When: 2:00pm
Where: Hopkinsville, KY

Birmingham (3-2) will be facing Hopkinsville (2-2). Birmingham has picked up a lot of momentum this season. They have won 3 games straight against Baton Rouge, Jackson and Memphis. Hopkinsville has been absolutely dominate at home. They are 2-0 at home and have outscored their opponents 91-10. Birmingham will continue to have their speedy backline as the support of their team. Look for Hopkinsville to upset Birmingham this week.

Jackson vs. Knoxville

When: 1:00pm
Where: 3213 Forest Ave  Ext, Jackson, MS 39213

Knoxville (3-2) will travel to face Jackson Rugby (2-3). Knoxville has had success against the True South West teams, Birmingham (19-12) and Baton Rouge (33-0). Knoxville is coming off a big loss against Chattanooga 36-10. The only losses that Knoxville has had was against Chattanooga. Jackson is building momentum after a win in Baton Rouge, 29-24. Knoxville is 2-1 on the road, while Jackson is 2-0 at home. This will make for a great match. The favorite for this game will be Knoxville, but look for Jackson to play this game close.

Memphis vs. Nashville

When: 1:00pm
Where: 4351 Babe Howard Ave, Millington, TN 

Nashville will be traveling to take on Memphis. These are two teams that have underwhelmed expectations this season. Memphis (0-5) has struggled much of this season. They will be looking to get their first win this week. They are reeling after a 33-11 loss to Much of their issue comes with a young back-line that is still getting used to play. Nashville (1-3) has also struggled this season. Despite that, Nashville was able to get their first win last week winning 44-8 over Hopkinsville. Look for Nashville to be the favorite for this game.
