Games To Watch This Weekend – Tournaments and International – March 21, 2014

The USA Eagles XV’s and Sevens teams are playing several games this weekend. In addition to that, as many college teams are beginning to tail off the end of the XV’s season, Sevens season for college teams are starting to pick up.

INTERNATIONAL

Uruguay Los Toros vs. USA Eagles
World Cup Qualifier Match round 1
When: March 22, 2014 
Time: 2:00pm

This will be the first of two matches for these two team to compete for the final Americas spot for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The Rugby World Cup will be held in London, England next summer. The USA Eagles lost out on their initial chance to qualify when they lost to Canada last summer. You can find more information about the Eagles here

Tokyo Sevens 
When: March 22 – 23, 2014
Where: Tokyo, Japan
Where to watch: irbsevens.com

This will be the sixth international Sevens tournament for the USA Sevens team. This will be the first tournament they enter without Carlin Isles since he originally joined.

COLLEGE

Spring Hill College will be hosting their inaugural Sevens tournament this week. If you have a chance go check it out.

Southern Rugby Conference Sevens Series

The SRC sevens series kicks off this weekend in Charleston, SC on the campus of the Citadel. This will be the first stop in a four stop series over the next 6 weeks. The schedule for pool play is:

9:00 Field 1: Lander v Elon
9:20 Field 1: UNCC v Western Carolina
9:20 Field 2: Furman v UNCG
9:40 Field 2: App State v C of C
10:00 Field 1: UNCW v Elon
10:20 Field 1: Citadel v Western Carolina
10:20 Field 2: Coastal v UNCG
10:40 Field 2: ECU v C of C
11:00 Field 1: Lander v UNCW
11:20 Field 1: UNCC v Citadel
11:20 Field 2: Furman v Coastal
11:40 Field 2: App State v ECU

Rumor has it that it will be 70 and sunny as well, so come out and enjoy some long overdue spring weather and great college rugby.

This is the 32nd annual Rugby XV’s tournament hosted by the Nashville Rugby Club. This tournament features 75 teams from across the country. First game will be starting at 9:00am. For information on brackets and game times,click HERE
