It’s another weekend of rugby in front of us. This weekend is particularly packed, as we have the pleasure of having several levels of rugby getting played, including two different college playoffs, a couple local games and an international game. To those who don’t think that they can ever catch anything happening with Rugby, they are wrong. Here’s what we have:

This is just a friendly match, as both teams get their final Fall season games in, in preparation for the gauntlet of Spring games that they will have. Two very physical teams, should make for a good match despite it being a college team vs. a Senior Men’s team

Dallas Reds vs. New Orleans Men (DI & DII)

Where: Lake Highland Park, Dallas, TX
When: DII plays at 2:00pm/DI plays at 3:30pm

This will be the season opener for the 2013/2014 Cup season for New Orleans. They will be competing in the Texas Rugby Union for the first time. The change over gives additional competition for both their DI and DII squad. New Orleans DI squad, coming off of a third place finish in last years Finals, are looking to build on their experience and attribute it to the tougher competition of the Texas Union.

College 7’s National Championships Day 1


Where: Greensboro, NC
When: 7:00am CST
Watch: USARugbytv.com

Even though no one from Louisiana is a participant in this match up, this is a great look at some highly competitive rugby. This two day tournament will be a great sampling of what will be happening for the olympics. Also include, we have 3 South representative college teams that will be participating in Auburn University, University of Florida, and University of South Carolina. These teams won out from the Olympic Rugby Qualifiers that LSU come out of in 5th place. More information on the College 7’s National Championships scheduling click HERE. USA Eagles vs. Russia

This will be the Eagles last match before they play Uruguay in March. They will hope to build on their 25-23 win over Georgia. Lets hope they are able to run with that momentum as they hope to close the 2013 year on a positive note. For more information on the team click HERE
