Games To Watch This Weekend: Birmingham vs. Jackson

Birmingham travels south to take on Jackson this weekend. This will be the second meeting between these teams. Last time, Birmingham defeated Jackson at home, 48-0. Birmingham is currently tied for first place in the True South West. A win this weekend would give Birmingham the undisputed #1 position in the West. Jackson is sitting at fourth place in the True South West. While Jackson’s record doesn’t look that impressive, they have been very effective at home, where they have taken their only two wins. Birmingham is 1-1 on the road. Birmingham averages 20pts per game on offense, and allows 22.5 pts per game on defense. This well below their average of 32.4 points per game on offense, and 12.4 points per game.

Players to watch for Birmingham are wing, Jonathan Gooden and center, Kwame Little. These two speedsters have combined for 45 points and 9 tries in 4 games for Birmingham. Both players are products of the University of Alabama-Birmingham rugby program, and have translated to be fierce weapons for Birmingham.

Despite the fact that Jackson has been a strong competitor at home, look for Birmingham to take sole lead of the True South West division with a win. Birmingham wins 24-10.
