HBCU Rugby Classic Returns for Third Year

The HBCU Rugby Classic and Music Festival will return to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in March 2020, for its third year. The HBCU Rugby Classic is the first and only African, African American, and Caribbean cultural rugby event in the United States, that features the two biggest rugby teams from historically black colleges and universities, in Prairie View A&M and Morehouse College.

“We’re excited for what we are able to offer for this year.” Director for the HBCU Rugby Classic, Gift Egbelu said. “After two successful years, we’re proud to continue to show representation of HBCU, African, and Caribbean culture, through the global sport of rugby to different audiences. We want to continue to educate people on lessons and opportunities that all these cultures can provide through the lens of rugby.”

The HBCU Rugby Classic will feature additional competition with high school rugby programs. As with any cultural festival goes, will include foods from Black, Caribbean, and African cultures, as well as live music and entertainment.
