As we near the Olympics, the focus on rugby continues to expand. This summer, a new sevens tournament will arise. Penn Mutual, sponsors of the Varsity Cup and the Collegiate Rugby Championships, will be adding one more tournament to their portfolio.
The Space City Sevens Tournament powered by Penn Mutual and Wealth Development Strategies, will be held at the Walter Hall Park in Houston, TX on August 15, 2015. Looking to bring a new national event for the rugby athlete and spectator, Space City Sevens will hold brackets for Senior Men and Women competitive club sides, men and women college brackets and high school brackets. As any rugby tournament goes, Space City Sevens wants to recognize the lighter side of rugby culture by also providing an Old Boys and senior men’s social bracket.
The brain child of former rugby players and wealth development specialists, Scott Blackley and Jason Paul Molina, Space City Sevens is expected to be a family friendly event built around community engagement, rugby camaraderie and having a fun time. There will be plenty of summer fun for adults and children alike. The tournament will feature music, drinks, food, and fun prizes. In addition there will be a bounce house and playground for children.
Team Participation requirements:
- Tournament fee for participating sides are, $300 for senior and collegiate sides; $150 for high school sides. A single hotel room for senior and collegiate sides will be covered in the tournament fee.
- Early registers will get $25 off the registration. Early registration ends on August 1st
