Rugby Recap: April 14th-16th

While the Easter Bunny was busy this past weekend, so were American ruggers as the hits kept landing and the kicks kept flying! Here are the scores from across the U.S. this past weekend. In Men’s Collegiate play, the UTEP Miners took on New Mexico and New Mexico Tech as part of the Rio Grande Championship series. Versus Tech, the Miners were held up 29-7 after eighty minutes of play. The Miners fell once again against New Mexico 67-0, ending their XV’s season. In the first round of D1A play, BYU topped Colorado State 93-3. Lindenwood beat Davenport 36-14, while Arizona beat Air Force 51-7 and San Diego State beat Utah 41-31. In Varsity Cup Quarter Finals, Army fell to Penn State 47-34. Cal beat Clemson 71-5, while Navy held the ship against Central Washington 27-24. Last but not least Utah fell to San Diego State 41-31, and semis will be played this weekend (April 22nd).

In D1AA action, Grand Canyon snuck by Western Washington 17-14 to start off the weekend. UC Davis beat CSULB 46-21, Florida State topped North Texas 30-28, and Brown fell to Missouri 55-17. In the following Semis UC Davis defeated Grand Canyon 26-17 and Florida State swept Missouri 38-0. The Final is scheduled this weekend, with the contenders being Florida State versus UC Davis.
