As the Christmas Carols begin blaring,so does Final’s and Conference season across collegiate rugby. Here is your score report for the past weekend pertaining to D1A, D1AA, and D2 Women’s and Men’s.
Men’s D1A
In the Red River Conference, Arkansas took a tight win over Texas Tech 40-36. Baylor took a solid win over OU 31-10, while UT defeated Houston 71-12.
Men’s D1AA
In an exciting culmination of fall fixtures, Mary Washington took on St. Joseph’s in the D1AA Men’s Fall Final. After a dominant St. Joseph’s first half, Mary Washington rallied in the second to ultimately defeat St. Joseph’s 37-13. Mary Washington wraps their 2017 fall season with an impressive 11-0 record, featuring 579 points scored overall.
Women’s D2
In NSCRO action, Wayne State College faced off against Bentley University in the Women’s XVs National Championship. Wayne State, reigning champions, faced off against prior champs in Bentley at Life University. After eighty minutes, Wayne State stood victorious 46-26.
Men’s D2
In NSCRO action, Loyola University Maryland played against Catholic University of America for the Mid-Atlantic Cup. In overtime, Loyola walked away victorious 48-27. They will face off against the South Cup winner on April 7th.
In the Lone Star Conference, Sam Houston State closed out their semester with a victory against St. Edwards 50-20. UTSA won their fixture against Texas State 50-17, while UNT defeated UD 39-27. UNT’s second squad saw action as well, facing off against the Wildcats of Abilene Christian University. Although the Wildcats managed a strong second half comeback, UNT proved too strong ultimately winning the match 46-31.
