Rugby Recap: January 26th-28th

As the cold winds rush across America, so does rugby of all shapes and sizes. Between matches in the heart of Texas and coastal cities, the various divisions have been busy. Here is your score report for the last weekend.

Men’s D1A Collegiate Rugby

In the Red River Conference, Baylor splashed out a muddy win against University of Houston 28-3. UT Austin took a victory as well against Texas Tech 25-7, and Texas A&M defeated TCU 34-9.

Across the way in the California D1A, UC Davis took down Cal Poly 33-27 while St. Mary’s stomped San Diego State 62-5. Neighboring PAC D1A saw UCLA slam Arizona State 47-5, and Arizona edged out USC 22-20.

In assorted D1A independent and friendly matches, BYU defeated Grand Canyon 53-22. Cal fell to Olympic Club 87-19, Lindenwood defeated Central Washington 27-15, and Arkansas State won versus Iowa Central 30-10.

Men’s D1AA Collegiate Rugby

In PAC West action, Nevada beat Sacramento State 38-27. Chico State emerged victorious over Fresno 51-10, while Stanford defeated San Jose State 65-10. UC Santa Cruz put away San Francisco State 78-19.

In NCRC play, Washington State took a tight match versus Oregon 17-14. Gonzaga took a victory over Idaho 22-12, while Oregon State smashed Southern Oregon 77-5.

In SIRC action, FIU beat FAU 32-5. UCF beat USF 41-12, and MTSU smashed Georgia Tech 46-3.
