Rugby Recap: October 27th-29th

With November knocking on the door, rugby across the U.S.A. is far from done. Here are the latest scores from across the nation and divisions!

Men’s D1A

In Big 10 action, Indiana defeated Wisconsin 36-12. Ohio State dominated Michigan 72-17, while Purdue triumphed over Minnesota 25-17.

In the Liberty Conference UConn took a close win over Rhode Island 37-30, and Northeastern beat Tufts 39-17. Fordham defeated Rutgers 22-14 in regulation.

In the Rugby East Conference, Penn State ran a successful campaign against Army 22-21. Kutztown hammered Wheeling Jesuit 66-10, and Notre Dame College beat St. Bonaventure 34-24.

Women’s D1 Elite

BYU saw a rough loss this weekend versus Central Washington 55-0. Life University saw multi-level action in the Owl-O-Ween tourney, ultimately finishing on the day undefeated. The opposition included the Georgia Bulldogs (47-0), Georgia Tech (29-0), and Kennesaw State (15-5). Penn State defeated Army 63-31 to close out their fall season.

Men’s D1AA

In the Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers, Rowan dominated IUP 76-10 and Temple squeezed out a tight win versus West Virginia 15-14. West Chester defeated Pitt 58-10, while St. Joseph’s decimated Villanova 85-12.

In Chesapeake play, Mary Washington defeated James Madison 48-7. Mount Saint Mary’s took a solid win over Maryland 40-20, and Virginia Tech beat Salisbury 21-5. Georgetown defeated Virginia 66-21 to round out the weekend.

In Ivy League action, Dartmouth bested Brown 41-10, and  Cornell tied with Columbia 34 all. Harvard handled Penn 46-29, and Princeton took a tight win over Yale 24-20.

In the SCRC, USC beat Auburn 22-20 and Tennessee handled Mississippi State 44-24.

In MAC play, Boston College beat UMass 20-14 while Louisville annihilated Miami 92-0.

Men’s DII

In the DSRC Championship finals, LA Tech triumphed over Tulane 41-19.
