This had to be one of the more exciting weekends for US Rugby. Such great games, such great action. What of course topped off the excitement of the weekend was the amazing conclusive victory for the USA Men’s Eagles Sevens squad at the London 7s tournament. This has been an accomplishment that was long in waiting this HSBC Series season. While many will love to pinpoint the fact that this is only one tournament, or that this isn’t XV’s, or that this doesn’t mean the US Eagles have made it, it does create a sense of closure to the feeling that many Eagles fans have felt all season. It let us know that we have the talent to complete a tournament, that sometimes the right amount of investment is necessary to push the program forward, and that we can prove to be capable of competing with the best. Rugby in the USA still has many obstacles facing it, but one thing can be said, we are starting to turn through a new era of Rugby. The opportunity for this country to see a new perception of Rugby has officially begun.
