SoCal Rugby Camps and The Rugger’s Edge Announce Partnership

Los Angeles, CA: The Rugger’s Edge continues to build relationships with all the premiere rugby camps in the nation formally announcing a partnership with SoCal Rugby Camps for 2016. The Rugger’s Edge will work with SoCal Rugby campers at their upcoming West Los Angeles camp July 11-15.  SoCal Rugby Camps and The Rugger’s Edge are committed to providing guidance to high school aged student-athletes who wish to pursue studying and playing rugby in college.

The Rugger’s Edge owner and founder, Karen Fong Donoghue, has known SoCal Rugby Camps co-founder Dallen Stanford for many years starting with his previous role as the head coach at Occidental College RFC and is pleased to continue to build bridges with Stanford’s new rugby programming.  Campers and their parents at the Santa Monica camp will be provided a private College Rugby Seminar presented by Rugger’s Edge Advisor Damien Fatongia on July 12 during the Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey camp July 11-15.

“I am so excited to partner with SoCal Rugby Camps this summer,” said Fong Donoghue. “Southern California is a hotbed for rugby talent and this is another great opportunity to educate more players and families about the unique opportunities available to them in college rugby.”

“We are honored to work with Karen and The Rugger’s Edge. The development of Rugby in the United States has changed dramatically over the past decade, and it’s extremely rewarding to be involved in this pathway,” said Stanford.

“As much as possible, we want all campers to be able to leave camp with not only the athletic tools to develop into fine collegiate players, but also understand the critical steps they need to take in their overall academic planning,” remarked Fong Donoghue.

Stanford has teamed up with Co-founder Marc Stcherbina who brings a wealth of knowledge from his 12-year professional rugby career, having played Australia 7s and Super Rugby with the Waratahs. Stcherbina understands the developmental and behavioral needs of young athletes – along with creative ways to unlock defenses in both XVs and 7s.

SoCal Rugby Camps is also massive advocate for advancing the women’s game, and will be hosting a camp in San Diego for both boys and girls ages 8-18, taking place at the University of San Diego from July 18-21.
