Junior and marketing major, Hunter Pinneo, is an essential part of the offensive framework that the University of South Alabama rugby has in place. His crisp passing and outstanding vision make him the perfect fit for the fly-half position.
Pinneo started playing the game his freshman year of college because the physical aspect interested him. “I started playing freshman year and I was interested in the physical nature of rugby and the brotherhood,” he explained. From there, he was hooked.
In regards to this season, Pinneo knows there is room for improvement, as there is with any team, but wants to keep getting better every day. He continued, “The season of course was good but could’ve been better. We’re focused on just getting better and improving.”
Putting on the Jaguar jersey is something Pinneo cherishes every moment. Playing rugby at South Alabama was one of the best decision he could of made. He explained, “Playing for south has been the best decision I’ve made in college. The amount of memories and friends I’ve made is great. Once you play rugby it makes you better in every aspect of your life.”
When it comes to favorite moments, Pinneo explains his first game is when he fell in love with the sport. “My very first game was my favorite moment, it was just when I realized how great the game is and how chaotic and fun it is.
South Alabama’s season just came to a close last weekend after a close loss to the University of Louisiana Lafayette. South will now enter their off season and re-shift their focus to the upcoming 7’s spring season.
